March 2019 - The Smithsonian National Museum of the
American Indian, Washington D C, U.S.A. displays 35 red dresses
outside of its building. The Red Dress campaign is a North American
campaign which started in Canada in 2010 to raise Awareness for
Missing and Murdered women, girls, and two spirited people. Red is
traditional thought to be the only colour spirits can see thus a red
dress is a way of calling the spirits of Missing and Murdered
Indigenous women, girls, and two spirited back to their loved ones.
