“Bobbie” Rosenfeld.
Born
Russia December 28, 1903 Died November 14, 1969. Raised in Barrie,
Ontario she loved sports and participated in hockey, softball, basketball,
tennis and track and field events. In 1925 she placed first in five events
and second in tow events in an afternoon at the Ontario Ladies' Track and
Field Championship. She was a member of the 1928 Canadian Olympic
team. These were the first Olympic Games to allow women to compete. She
brought home a silver and gold medal for Canada! She was elected
a member of the Canada Sport Hall of Fame in 1949. In 1950 she was
declared Canada's woman athlete of the half century. |
