 		 February - Canadian women's hockey team wins gold medal at Turin Olympics, to defend  Olympic title.

February 25 -   Cindy Klassen became the first Canadian to win five medals at a single Winter Games.

March 8 - Governor General Michaelle Jean celebrates International Women's Day with a visit to women's groups in war town Afghanistan. Source: CBC TV News March 8 2007.

January 23 - Died Andrea Brett Bronfman (1945-2006) community worker.
January 27 - Died Jacqueline Lorraine Shepherd (1932-2006), 1960’s consumer advocate & activist.

2007

 Hayley Wickenheiser is named the winner of the Bobbie Rosenfeld Award.

December 27 - Hayley Wickenheiser is chosen by the Canadian Press as the Canada's female athelete of the year. .

Deaths:
February 19 - Died Prima ballerina Celia Franca (1921-2007), founder of Canada's National Ballet.
September 29 -Died Lois Maxwell (1927-2007) Actress remembered for her role as Miss Moneypenny in 14 James Bond films.
