2016 February 2, 2016 - Melanie Mark (1976-   ) is the 1st Aboriginal  woman elected to the Legislature of British Colombia.

December 8, 2016 - Viola Desmond
is chosen as the 1st Canadian woman to appear on the face of a circulating Bank of Canada note. The ban note will be issued in 2018.

2016 - Wanda Thomas Elaine Bernard
(1953-   )  is the 1st Black Nova Scotia woman to serve in the Senate of Canada.
